GAITHERSBURG, MD: Ukraine's National Security Secretary Umerov announced on X that Ukrainian and U.S. delegations have agreed to “the core terms" of a revised version of President Trump's 28-point plan presented in Geneva.
“As someone who spent 22 years as a national security lawyer for the Marine Corps, I support peace and welcome progress, though I remain cautiously optimistic since we need to confirm adequate security measures are in place, especially since the plan’s details aren’t public yet,” said Burnett. “I’d want to review it to confirm those measures exist. We must ensure Russia adheres to the terms of the deal, and I look forward to continuing our efforts to overcome its tyranny. Furthermore, the war between Russia and Ukraine should have ended long ago and never should have started in the first place.”
The original 28-point plan has been reduced to a new 19-point plan, removing one of the most contentious issues between Russia and Ukraine, such as land concessions and security guarantees which will be resolved at a later time.
Chris Burnett is a retired Marine officer and national security lawyer running for Congress in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.
