GAITHERSBURG, MD: The House of Representatives passed the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025 by a vote of 223- 190. The legislation requires that any new federal regulations impacting small businesses, established by the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), impose no cost on small businesses. However, Representative McClain Delaney (D-MD-6) opposed the bill.
"Representative McClain Delaney makes a show of distributing funds throughout her district, yet when given the opportunity to reopen the government to benefit federal employees and reduce costs for small businesses, she votes against it," said Burnett.
The Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025 also requires the Chief Counsel for the Office of Advocacy of the Small Business Administration to submit an annual report to Congress on how federal agency rulemaking impacts small businesses issued by agencies other than the SBA during the previous fiscal year (FY). Among other requirements, the report must include the total cost of such rulemaking. Reports must be submitted no later than 60 days after FY 2025 ends. Additionally, when discussing this bill that she sponsored on the House floor, Representative Van Duyne (R-TX-24) explained that it requires federal agencies to eliminate outdated and duplicative regulations, or those that "don't reflect the intent of the law."
"Representative McClain Delaney continually expressed her concern for federal workers but opposed ending the government shutdown twice. She talks about affordability, but when shehad a chance to vote on legislation to address it and lower costs for small business owners, she voted against it. These are just two of her most recent examples of voting against the interests of CD-6 residents," Burnett said.
