GAITHERSBURG, MD: On Friday, December 19, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Mast (R-FL-21) introduced the AI OVERWATCH Act, which ensures congressional oversight stays current with technological progress, prevents hostile militaries from obtaining weapon-enabling artificial intelligence (AI), and expedites American AI exports to allied and partner countries globally.
“This is why we need an innovation corridor in Western Maryland," said Burnett.
“This legislation demonstrates why investing in AI, quantum computing, and advanced
manufacturing is necessary for the United States, which is exactly what the Western
Maryland Innovation Corridor accomplishes. It benefits Western Maryland's economy and is crucial to our national security, going beyond mere economic opportunity."
Chris Burnett is a retired Marine Corps officer and national security lawyer running for
Congress in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District.
