GAITHERSBURG, MD: During a roundtable event, President Trump alongside Secretary of Agriculture Rollins, Treasury Secretary Bessent, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman (AR), Senator Deb Fischer (NE), Senator John Hoeven (ND), Representative Austin Scott (GA), and farmers from eight states, announced the Department of Agriculture (USDA) will make $12 billion available in one-time bridge payments. The assistance targets temporary market trade disruptions and heightened production costs that continue affecting farmers. These payments are intended to provide interim support for farmers until the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) investments reach eligible farmworkers on October 1, 2026.
"I support this critical first step for the next generation of farmers," said Burnett. "American farmers deserve to farm free from excessive regulations or government interference. This is the first step towards restoring that freedom."
